in 2005, now it's under the maryland state department of education so with that there's a huge focus on the importance of early education, curriculum, staff development and these children being ready to enter kindergarten. >> is that every childcare center coming under the board of edge or certain ones? >> every licensed daycare center or preschool. >> i did not know that. that means you'll have to have a certain teacher-to-child ratio and other things? >> it's always been the case but under the office of childcare was moreation, it focused around, is it a safe, nurturing, clean environment? do the children have adequate equipment and tools but now under msde, it's more curriculum focused, there are recommended curriculums centers are encouraged to follow. >> for parents, what should you be looking for when looking at childcare? >> as a father of five children and i'm -- two of them still in preschool, i walk through the hallways as a father first. does it feel good, is this a place i want to leave my children? at the curriculum, i'm looking at staff development. all the families tha
